my world...

Twilight has always been my favorite time of the day. As the sun begins to set and shadows dance across the floor in a slow waltz, I find myself drawn outside. During warmer days, I often sit on my front porch completely mesmerized by the parade of colors marching across the horizon. I watch the sky intently as the vast array of tints and tones seem to blend and shift. This performance always starts with some intense hues, and I marvel at the display of fiery oranges, vibrant turquoise, and brilliant pinks. These slowly give way to soft muted colors of dusty purple, peachy pink, and pale aqua. The spectacular show ends with a curtain call of midnight blue.

Nature reveals a palette at dusk that sings to my heart. Maybe this is why my pieces always seem to have a dreamy feel about them because I am forever trying to capture bits of the sunset in my work. But, my attempts seem to fall so incredibly short of the truly spectacular vision I witness night after night.

Despite my artistic shortcomings, this dreamy world of mine is a happy place. My work continues to be either extremely saturated with color or very soft, and pale. All of my pieces are very reflective and each one beckons me to examine the path I travel. Is my life full of passion... am I listening to my heart... is there joy in my everyday?

Life is so short, and I often wonder when it is my time to leave this earth behind what will I miss. Of course, there is always the sunset, but mostly my answer to this question remains the same. I will miss Home, and all the things that make it the place I love to be.

Beautiful piece, beautiful words. But-----besides missing your home, you're not going anywhere because I'd miss you!
