The lure of Autumn

It is a busy time preparing for next month when I will be gone more than I am home...
however, the subtle changes outside are
calling..
beckoning..
and trying their best to lure me into abandoning the tasks at hand.

I can only resist for so long, then I find myself yielding to the temptation...
wandering out of doors...
soaking up the beginnings of Autumn.

serene quiet days and falling leaves
rain coming down making puddles in the street
a hush resounding, I can hear my heart beat
laying in wet grass, cloud gazing, daydreaming

tender thoughts carried away upon a cool breeze
my box of treasure filled with sweet memories
the moon and stars rushing toward a new day
each precious moment slipping away

the year grows shorter, harvest is nigh
brilliant colors paint a deep blue sky
the time draws near, excitement in the air
the reason clear, for a changing season is here

Autumn is one season. I love. You captured the mood very well. I am kind of thinking...

Lovely thoughts and words which I'll try to keep with me as I try to do without summer. :)

tracie lyn,
I felt time slipping through my hands as I sit and read your beautiful words. I too feel the day passing ever so quickly. Where does time go?
I love the autumn more then any other time of the year. Your words and imagery is sowarm with just a slight chill.... captivating and alive.

"moon and stars rushing" and don't they, this time of year!

I read "rushing to a shorter day" rather than "new"...but that's how it feels in the Pacific Northwest. Time is slipping quickly and soon we'll have dark mornings and twilight starting before my afternoon tea has cooled.

fall is my favorite season! i love the collage you posted with this piece. the background is great! does your collage/mixed media stuff come from the poems? vice versa? neither? just curious.

my paintings talk to me, so i understand either way :)

The lure of autumn is so true...it is my favorite time to be outside...so many projects to do inside but to be outside in the crisp clean seemingly refreshed air is way to tempting and here at Good Manor we like to follow it up with an evening camp fire....
