The Abundant Landscape

These new days of June welcome what are the beginnings of summer. Soon the longest day of the year will be upon us. Already, the dawn can be seen breaking over the horizon during the wee hours.

The crisp dewy mornings with visions of bright budding branches and springtime flowers have long been lost to the now hot, wayward winds sweeping through the Plains.

I find myself slightly melancholy to see Spring fading to a distant memory. However, the trees do not seem sad for this change of season. I think they almost relish their broad dark green leaves cascading from every limb.

Tall daisies are flourishing in the garden among the ever present coneflowers and lavender. And the roses... Oh the Glorious Roses... continue to bloom with great fervor, blossom upon blossom!

I made sure when planting my garden to have these beauties adorn the landscape in abundance, and I have never been sorry for that decision.

" Not useless are ye, Flowers! though made for pleasure:
Blooming o'er field and wave, by day and night,
From every source your sanction bids me treasure
Harmless delights made."

- Horace Smith

Your garden sounds like a little paradise on earth, Tracie Lyn. Having never been to Kansas, I would love to see your state through your eyes. What does the landscape in your part of the world look like?
