A personal map would be wonderful I think. It seems like it would be a good visual way to record some of the meaningful things in your life.

I have just checked out the book and the blog that goes with this book, and I'm really taken with these great ideas. As I'm dyslexic, map reading has always been a struggle for me, but I've always been fascinated by them. The picture of the Milly Molly Mandy map on the blog brought back so many wonderful, and happy memories of my childhood in England. Thank you for this great giveaway...Lorna

A map, to me, helps me find my way with less stress and saves time! :) Obviously, I mean this literally! I have never considered creating my own map although I often use atlas pages in my artwork. I LOVE them. The book sounds really interesting and I'd love to own it!

Direction, a plan, making a decision on which way to go even if it is unplanned territory. That is what a map means to me.

A map means to me ... memories of standing on streets in other cities and countries trying to figure out where I am and where I want to go. Neither my husband nor I can read maps but we love that people will stop and point us in the "right" direction.

No question for me a map means adventure - real or imaginary. I love them.

For me, a map means putting something in order, especially the world, but this same system can be used for brainstorming and many other complicated things - very interesting for me, so I´d love to win the book!

It depends on whether you are the map maker or the map user, I suppose.
A map can be a guide that helps us navigate places that we have not yet traveled or it is a documentation of an area that we are familiar with.

A map means travel. It means if I'm in a hurry I can take the interstate highways, but if I have time to explore, all the little off the beaten track roadways are accessible to me. I love maps!

Hi Tracie - I took a class from you last year at ArtFest!

I love maps and collect the odd ones from yard sales and such, thinking I will do something with them some day. This book looks wonderful.

A map could be a story of one's life, of the past, the now and the future. It could be a map of dreams, possibilities, hopes and plans. This book sounds like a fantastic project and read. Thanks for the chance to win.

I love this idea - creating personal geographies. What a map means to me... JOURNEY - happenings past and possibilities anew. Reflecting, musing, aspiring.

A map, to me, depicts a journey... already complete, in progress or yet to come. There's something fascinating about giving visual representation to the emotion distance between two (or more) points in one's life. :-)

A map is a guide but doesn't give you answers and doesn't tell you where to go. It shows you where you are now, and offers options of where you could go. It can show you where you were but not where you'll be. I need to trust my own inner map more.

Jeannie said...

A map can be all kinds of things, but actually is is a story, of sorts. It can tell you the story of how to get from point a to b. Or the map of wrinkles on a face showing the life one lived. (First hand knowledge :D) Thanks for the opportunity Traci and Jill.

Maps mean possibilities, places to see, a destination, either physical or mental. I love maps!

Barbara Hagerty said...

To me, a map represents a choice of destination and provides a visual of the most direct route for getting there. A map is hope in all circumstances, because even if you discover that you've gone off the road and are lost, the map can show you where you are, where you need to be, and how to get there, and turn a dilemma into an adventure.

I, too, have always had a love of maps at the beginning of a story.Imagination runs wild with the reference to this geography keeping me in tune with where the story is held, helping me to pretend I am actually "there". I also feel that a map is a type of "diary" of places, events, and memories.

Dot said...

I, too, have always loved stories that began with a map. Somehow, the frequent reference to it, helps me pretend that I am there too.
I love maps because they actually become a form of "diary", for personal activities and memories.

The most fun I have had in designing a map was when I made a wall-hanging art quilt for a friend, depicting remembrances of her Hawaii honeymoon.

A map is a journey of where I started from tracing out where I am now and where I will be headed next. It tells me the path I took to get to where I am today.

A record of a journey -- one taken, in progress, or finished. I love the idea of mapmaking for many of my life's journeys: raising a child, spiritual growth, actual travel, and my journey as an artist, to name a few. Thanks for the chance to win this cool book!

To me map means documentation of what I've learned by "whatever" means, to help pave the way for those who might wish to travel a similar direction--and "travel" may be literal or metaphorical. It's also my name spelled backwards so I'm thinking it's destiny that I win! LOL--good luck to all of us =)

A map is an opportunity.... to get a sense of the "lay of the land" whether that land is an interior space or an actual location... once you have a chance to familiarize yourself with the map you can enter the territory with awareness.. a map is a friend
