Gentle Whispers

Over the holiday, I visited the local Botanical Gardens for the seasonal opening of the Butterfly House.  Delicate wisps of beauty filled the air, such a sight to behold! Gentle whispers danced about and around individuals as they were stopped dead in their tracks, mesmerized by the glories of nature.

Butterfly visitors were treated to a rare glimpse of various butterfly cocoons.  I was especially fascinated by the Monarchs, as they are trimmed in gold near the top of their cocoons.

So beautiful! When I was at the garden center this week, I noticed I chose plants based on their ability to attract butterflies and hummers. Lantana, coneflower, salvia all came home with me. Now I will wait.....

Lovely! We have a huge field that we don't cut- mostly because we don't have a tractor- and there is a huge patch of milkweed for the monarchs! It seems like we don't have as many butterflies up here in Maine (as in Pa.) maybe it's the weather. Right now, I keep cathing the skippers that get stuck in our little enclosed porch, setting them alight outside to go about there business.
