A Small Miracle

Who wouldn't be both amazed and humbled
by Nature when it decides to bestow a small
miracle in your midst.

Several posts ago, I mentioned that I was
witnessing occasional glimpses of shadowy
silhouettes upon the frosted glass of my front
door. I had hoped, so very much, that the pair
of finches that were visiting my winter wreath
were perhaps selecting a place to build a nest.

I did not have to wait long to have my wishes
confirmed.
These expecting parents have been very busy
indeed, over the last week, and I could not be
more thrilled and delighted.

It has been two years now, since my husband
discovered a nest of Robin's eggs in a tree in
our yard, and I was immediate besot with them.
I have been quite careful not to disturb
these bird parents in their endeavors,
even going so far as to meet a delivery
driver at the curb so he would not come
up on the front porch.

And as you can see, there are no eggs
yet, so I am waiting patiently, watching
carefully for the future to unfold.
Such events truly spark my creativity
with a fresh sense of awe and wonder,
and I am excited to create some new
painted and stitched collages inspired
by a small miracle, right at my front
door.

love it! you might want to string up that yellow plastic under construction tape across the porch so no one disturbs those sweet birdies!

What a lovely piece! Btw.. I want to thank you for inspiring me.. I just love the frames to your photos on your blogs.. My art blog is a completely different style but I figured out how to make a painted frame for photos of a few jewelry pieces I've made. It really makes a difference in the look. Blessings.

I can just picture you repeatedly checking the window to determine the PRECISE moment that the delivery guy would show up. I know those birds appreciate that! :)

Aaah, you lucky you! I had blackbirds nesting in my yard - right next to the back window - for two years but they didn't come this year. Well, they came, but only to pick some seeds and grasses to build their nest elsewhere.... but, Spring has begun! For sure!

Absolutely beautiful. For several years we had birds nest in our Christmas wreath which we store in our garage. Everytime we opened the door the birds would fly out. We ended up leaving the door open so they could go in and out. Two years ago we threw the wreath away. I miss those birds so much. It was so fun to watch the progress of the nest, the presence of the eggs and then the birth of the baby birds.

I love this. I love anything that shows eggs in a nest. I like the elements you used to frame it.
I have you on Google Reader, Google Buzz, Stumbleupon, and Twitter. I hope you don't mind. You are so worth sharing. I am also on blogger under Yoby's Table Work, though I haven't posted much except for links to other people's inspiring sites.
