Journaling The Garden Week 11

Before mid-week there was not an outdoor bloom
to be seen. But I satisfied my Springtime longings,
making a visit to the local floral shop, taking home
several bundles of Tulips to create an indoor garden.

I adore having live flowers in the house, carefully
arranged in my favorite white pitcher in the kitchen
and also a vintage white vase in my studio.

Beautiful bursts of color to cheer, inspire me
to the arrival of this new season, and a new
subject to capture in the Garden Journal.

I always start with a rough pencil sketch on muslin,
then paint a base coat of acrylic.

My favorite part is adding the details to the subject
making everything really come to life and "POP!".

I can hardly wait to visit the city's Botanical Gardens
soon, where there will be quite a gathering of Tulips
on parade. As well as traveling south to Belle Plaines,
Kansas for the annual Tulip Festival on April 14th.

Great minds think alike! I picked up tulips and daffodils at the store today. My in the ground bulbs are weeks away from blooming, so instant gratification. Wishing you a beautiful day and thanks for always inspiring me to create. Hugs.

I picke some large sunflowers in my yard this morning. The skies were overcast. I put them in a tall turquoise vase and put that on an old chair. Now that I have the pictures, what do I do? I really don't know how to sketch.
I so love your talent!

Hi Mary! You can print your beautiful picture out on copy paper. You might need to lighten the image. If you don't have a computer to do this then some one at your local copy store can help you.

Once you have the image on copy paper, place a pice of fabric of the copy paper image and hold against a window or light box, trace the outline of your vase and sunflowers... fill in with paint!

Happy Creating!

I just found your blog- a little blog hopping this morning. Your use of color is captivating. A stroke of a bright blue or navy blue makes the whole thing sing. Ive sat here reading old posts and enjoying myself before heading to my drafting table for a day of painting. Thank you for the inspiration and eye candy. ( a new "follower")
