In The Studio - Distractions

Lately, I have found myself craving paint! This craving is nothing so dramatic that would warrant the reality shows arriving on my doorstep. But, I have been very busy with some important tasks that have taken me away from my work table. The absence of creating has left me wistfully longing to hold a paint brush in my hand.

So about a month ago, I found, for sale, a beautiful vintage wooden box with really lovely details, such as a nature inspired carving of scroll leaves on the lid, dovetail joints, and a mirror inside.  I purchased the box not really knowing what I might do with it.  However, it was immediately clear, once the box arrived in the post, that it only needed a little tender loving care to restore the wood and a touch of magic that perhaps a small original painting on the lid could provide.

This project has had me so excited, invigorated, finding myself constantly distracted with thoughts of painting on my box, and stealing away any leisure moments to work on it.

I finished "project distraction" over the weekend completely thrilled with the results!  So happy, in fact, that I have purchase a new box to remake.

I love it! I want to paint, and paint some more. So many ideas and inspiration. If you ever paint a Junco some day let me know.

Your box is beautiful! You really have added so much beauty to a lovely box. My crystal ball sees a new line of boxes by Tracy in the near future! :)

Tracie, my Mom would have loved the way you transformed that box. It is truly lovely and I am glad to see it beautiful once again. :)
